One of the missions of the Episcopal church is to respond to human need through loving service. At The Episcopal Church of St. Bede, parishioners and the Women's Ministry (ECW) strive to fulfill our Christian duty to love our neighbor through positive actions and projects in our community that make a difference in people’s lives. Many of our activities and events are posted on our Facebook page. Please come join us! We welcome you to join us in our outreach ministries as we work toward being God's light in the world.
Meals on Wheels and St. Pete Free Clinic are seeking volunteers for their work in our community. We are called in our baptism to serve Christ in all people, loving our neighbors as ourselves. You can learn more about how you can help by contacting these organizations at www.neighborly.org and www.stpetersburgfreeclinic.org.
On the fourth Sunday of every month we receive donations of non-perishable foods for our deanery food pantries. The Episcopal Churches of St. Giles and St. Bartholomews have expressed their gratitude for our continual Food Pantry support. Let's all pitch in and shop for local grocery store BOGOS. Buy one for your pantry and give the other one to the Food Pantries. Drop them into the two (2) boxes provided at the rear of the church. These are some of the nutritious foods needed: Peanut butter, canned tuna, pork and beans, canned beef and chicken stew, canned soups, corn flakes, crackers, grape jelly, noodles, spaghetti sauce, fruit cocktail and green beans.
Community Preschool, our next door neighbor which has been serving the children of St. Petersburg since 1942, is a main focus for our outreach.
Each year St. Bede’s provides Easter baskets, Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts to the preschoolers and their families.
This year the women of The Episcopal Church of St. Bede are collecting donations from art supplies to clothing on a quarterly basis to provide school students and their families extra support.
St. Bede has a Quarterly Outreach Program to the St Petersburg Community Prechool.
THANKSGIVING DONATIONS: for the St. Petersburg Community Pre-School families will begin the first Sunday in November through the Sunday before Thanksgiving. There are families with children who need some support for Thanksgiving. The ECW is collecting food in the 2 boxes provided at the back of the church marked: "Thanksgiving for Pre-School." You can also donate gift cards from grocery stores and give them to Nancy Rex after church. We all will have a better Thanksgiving when we help others.
Resurrection House in St. Petersburg, a faith-based program designed to help homeless families achieve self sufficiency, is another recipient of The Episcopal Church of St. Bede’s mission work.
Each year in January, we hold Undie Sunday when parishioners donate new underwear for Resurrection House families.
